About Us

Our Story

The Skipper Restaurant and Chowder House established in 1936, is one of Cape Cod’s oldest waterfront restaurants with the pristine views of Nantucket sound.

The Skipper Crew have made this restaurant the huge success that it is, by hard work and taking care of our local population whether you are visiting Cape Cod for a day, a week or a lifetime the crew will ensure your time spent with us is both pleasant and memorable.

Our chefs work hard to present the finest and freshest fish you can find, Angus cuts of beef and not to mention our Award winning clam chowder. All our entrees are cooked to order and we have a great kids menu. For a true sense of Olde Cape Cod don’t Skip the Skipper.

We had the best time at the Skipper while on our Honeymoon the past May. We were in search of some sea food, not that hard on The Cape, and a great view, again not that hard on The Cape. We landed at The Skipper Restaurant & Chowder House, thank you to all you other Yelpers out there for pointing us in the right direction! It was freezing out and their roof top deck was all enclosed and nicely warm. We immediately could tell that we landed in the right spot, since there were two large birthday groups gathered, we knew the locales were fans, great sign! Our server was running around a bit, catching up from his very rambunctious birthday party, so we looked over the menu for a few moments. He was very nice and let us know he would be right with us. We ordered a bottle of wine, and it arrived very cold and in it's own chiller. We couldn't decide about an appetizer so Mitchel, our server, recommended hat we try the try the "Fried Claim Chowder." Hmm sounded interesting, so we went for it. OMG! Literally one of the best things I have every had. It looks like a crab cake, but its chowder. You have to try it. Later in the evening on our way out the door we noticed the chef had actually been written up in a local paper about his invention, awesome! My husband is dead set on figuring out how to make them at home. The rest of our meal was amazing! He had fish and chips and I had salmon. It was all perfect! We were so stuffed from the great food we couldn't finish our bottle but we were able to take it home and finish on our patio. Mitchel our server was awesome! Please ask for him if you stop by!Thank you so much for helping to make our trip that much more fun!

I cannot begin to say enough about this restaurant. We found it back in June and have been going back every other weekend since. We also go Friday Saturday and Sunday night when we go. Yes it is that good! The chowder is the best I've ever had, the salmon Cesar is another favorite but it is not only the food that keeps us coming it is the amazing owners and staff. Every time we walk in we are greeted with the warmest hellos and are remembered each time. I know living in the cityYou would not even come Close to finding an amazing restaurant like this. Definitely try it!

Great food, ambiance, and service. Excellent clam chowder and french onion soup. Seafood was all very fresh.

Our meal at Skippers far exceeded our expectations. The seafood was fresh and the chicken parmesan was so filling. My wife and father-in-law got the special that included lobsters, mussels, clams, potato, corn on the cob and much more. We were so full that we couldn't have desert but a couple hours later we went back for ice cream which was awesome. We can't wait to go back next time we are on the Cape!

Even though me and my girlfriend had to wait a half hour to be seated on the outside deck our server quickly came to our table for our orders. The appitezers and dinners came out in respectable time. After appitezers were finished the time between courses was perfect. Then comes the food that was perfectly cooked and seasoned amazingly. Just spectacular from start to finish.

This restaurant is a cape cod GEM. My man and I ate here this afternoon and it was great from start to finish. Started with the famous chowdah which totally lived up to it's claim of award winning flavor !!! Well fleet oysters on the half shell with the usual horseradish and cocktail sauce but also a delicious sweet chili sauce - different and still great. I ordered the "awesome crab roll" this thing earned it's title boy I'll tell ya !! PACKED WITH CRAB totally !!! My better half got the steak and cheese and was perfectly pleased with that as well !!! Planters punch is unreal too. Our server I think his name was Aiden couldn't have been better. He was extremely informative and perfectly attentive. Great experience can't wait to return!

Triple Crown winning Chowdah all around the table to begin. ( For those who don't know what the " TRIPLE CROWN " designation is, it means this restaurant has won the three biggest Chowdah competitions around. Cape Cod, Boston and New Port Rhode Island) ÂEnjoyed by all, and a good start to a seafood bonanza diner for everyone. Fresh plump shrimp, eight extra large, golden fried beauties were the entree for one of our party, while someone else had the half pound lobster roll in a grilled bun. Large portion of lobster, creamy mayo, served with fries and homemade slaw. A fried seafood platter was the third entree and was a heaping pile of fresh whole belly clams, surrounded by extra large shrimp, scallops, and three large pieces of haddock. As for me, the diner special, $55.00 consisted of steamers, little necks, corn on the cob, a cup of Chowdah and the best 3 pound lobster you could ever drop into drawn butter. The service staff is attentive, fast, very friendly and the bartenders mix great drinks. The dining room manager made several passes through the room, checking all tables to ensure everything was to each guests satisfaction. Overall an excellent time out for the entire family.
